Events and festivals in Belize start in January, with the country’s New Year’s celebrations. During this celebration, many cross-country races take place throughout Belize. During the month of February, Belize celebrates it Fiesta de Carnaval or the Belize Carnival. This event is held the week prior to the starting of Lent. If you are in the country during this period and want to participate in the celebrations, San Pedro on Ambergris Caye is the place to be as this is where the most lively and energetic crowd will be.

In March, you will be there to help celebrate the Baron Bliss Day. This celebration is held in Belize City in honor of Sir Henry Edward Ernest Victor Bliss, one of Belize’s greatest benefactors. This celebration normally includes sailboat and horse races as well as kiting competitions, so if you enjoy these things then you will have loads of fun there.

For the Easter week celebrations, this is normally started with religious services after which you can enjoy one of the largest cross-country bicycle races you have ever seen. Belize also celebrates the Christmas season which normally includes a wide range of parties, races, sporting events and cultural dances. Other events and festivals you can enjoy in Belize are the Costa Mayo Festival or the fantastic Deer Dance Festival.
