Area Guide to Holloway

HollowayHolloway is one of London’s inner city areas, which is located in the Islington Borough in England. The area is connected by a high concentration of residential properties, businesses, and commercial areas. This busy district is ever abuzz with a range of activities and one will never be bored living or visiting the area.

Holloway Road is one of Holloway’s most popular areas and is home to excellent transportation services. These include the dependable Holloway tube. Another way of transporting to and from the area is by accessing the tubes on Caledonian Road. Car rentals and limousine services are readily available in the city.

The Islington Council is in charge of the local authorities and is responsible for delivering services to the area. Council tax rates in the area have a low of £794 while properties with the highest values have rates up to £2,381 and are subjected to change on a yearly basis. As with most of London’s districts, Holloway has its fair share of beautiful Victorian buildings and modern complexes recently built in the now attractive business area. Residential properties in Holloway consist of Victorian style buildings as well as modern complexes which include large homes and open properties. Flats and apartments can also be had for rent. Lavish commercial estates for the business minded are also available.

The recently built Arsenal Stadium has exciting tours available while the Emirates Stadium is a must see. There is also the nearby London Metropolitan University which is home to the tallest building in that area known as the Tower Building, the Learning Centre and Stapleton House. Many superb shopping areas can be found Holloway Road, Caledonian Road and Seven Sisters Road.

Several clothes and fashion stores, eateries, health and beauty stops and home and garden supplies among other shopping areas can be accessed in Holloway. A number of great restaurants are also located in the area, such as the Afro Met which specialises in unique African cuisines. The Aspendos Bar and Grill is a superb Turkish Restaurant while the Bengal Balti House serves tasty Bangladeshi meals. Italian and Indian restaurants are also available, pizza hubs and snack shops. Holloway is well equipped with pubs and bars which serve a wide variety of drinks. These are great areas to hang out at evening.

The Arsenal Stadium is home to thrilling football matches in Holloway. There are several theatres and cinemas in and around the area which provide recent shows as well as intriguing cultural performances. Popular hang out spots include the Odeon on Holloway and the Palace Theatre. There are also places such as the Red Sea Social Club, Quicksilver, Peoples and Nitro. From Holloway, you can access any of London’s exciting film events, festivals and live shows. Bars and pubs are popular night time entertainment spots in the area.

There is also Islington’s rejuvenating outdoor walking trails among busy city areas to green open spaces. Popular parks in Holloway include the Barnard Park, the Caledonian Park, Eduard Square and Whittington Park. There is also boating and fishing on rivers and lakes in the surrounding areas. Holloway is made up of students attending University, first-time home buyers, families and couples.
